craigslist, wikipedia, xbmc, and a multitude of other websites are blacked out today in support of stopping these bills

essentially, what it means is a website could be BANNED at a DNS level (similar to the chinese great internet wall) ANY website using copyrighted material incorrectly. that means that a font, a graphic or even possibly a post like in this forum could cause this website to be blocked in the U.S. WITHOUT a trial, due process, or an investigation, the mere ACCUSATION is enough to ban the site.

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, IF YOURE NOT PISSED OR SCARED, YOURE NOT PAYING ATTENTION!!!!!!

Please, for the love of god, if you value the freedom to choose what websites you visit, if you value the openness and sharing that occurs on this site of information PERTAINING TO THE REPAIR OF YOUR BIKE, if you download or stream movies or music (pandora and netflix) and would like to continue, contact your representatives TODAY and let them know the SOPA and PIPA MUST NOT BE SUPPORTED! if you need a link to them, visit a blacked out site such as wikipedia or craigslist for an easy way to find your rep.

this was posted by a friend of mine, who happens to be a photographer that uses the creative commons license occasionally. (some of my pictures that i post are actually his that he releases under the CCL. if SOMEONE determined that the photos i posted fall into the SOPA or PIPA, this site would be shut down.

first amendment (can we imagine how abused this basic natural right will get given the major media outlets?)

stop the PROTECT IP act and recall any rep pushing for SOPA

not only will these break the open nature of the internet, it will stymie creativity and the peoples natural right to free speech

Mixer, thanks for bringing this up to everyone's attention.

IT IS IMPORTANT. Sometimes we sit back and hope things turn out okay... this isn't one of those times. I've contacted my representative and expressed my opinion. I would appreciate if others do the same.

Contacted my Representative.

Tried to contact both my Senators, but got "site errors" from the senators' sites.
