I made one from a scrap rack I got at the bone yard. Don't have any idea what it was for. But I cut off the legs and welded them on the front so they line up with the grab handle holes. Then made a pair of saddles by cutting a piece of thin pipe in half. Welded those to some bar stock, and welded the bar stock to the platform. Then powder coated. Total cost = $10 for the rack and $21 for the powder coating. Not too pretty, but now I can strap on a tail pack and carry spare gas, water, sandwich, etc. into the boonies.

Platform where there was none before and not obtrusive or ugly....job done. I was wondering about the price you mentioned on the powdercoating for a single piece. Did you have some other pieces to have powdercoated the same color? I was just wondering if your powdercoater has a mimnum price or it is just that you have a professional relationship with them with all the bikes you work on.

Have you seen the rack below that is at auction in another country? Not sure at all if it would fit properly and the sellers' description sounds a little vague to me.
It would cost too much to rechrome it but that 'chrome powdercoating' might look alright.
I have sent the rack link to you in a pm in case you have not already seen the listing.

Here is just a ramdom pic of a TS185 with a different rack.

They had a $30 minimum and a 7 - 10 day wait. But as the guy was writing up the ticket, he noticed they were doing a huge job the next day in the color I wanted, so they tossed my rack in with the other job. The cost was reduced, and I got it the next day.

I can tell by the bike it's on that it wouldn't fit. Different frame. But thanks for the heads up.
