Today is a happy day, I get to join a new group of people. "Retiree's", yes today I got up at 4 am, packed my 35yr old lunch box for the last time and headed out into the darkness. I'll come home a FREE MAN!!! Being able to plan this day and leave by my own decision, I realize just how blessed I've been, having spent the last 40yrs working full time, never being unemployed. Especially in the current economy.
What to do now??? Trust me, I won't be bored. Besides the "honey do" list's my wife has for me I'll definetly be able to spend more time than the few hrs a week I've had, working on, riding, and showing my bikes! As one VJMC member told me last year when he stepped into my shop and saw my projects, "you better live a long time". Finally I'll be able to justify the time to attend the major swap meets and shows I couldn't attend due to time constraints and family obligations.
I'm looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible at these events!
Cheers to all, and keep the rubber side down!! |

Congratulations!!! Real Freedom, speaking from experience. Mine wasn't voluntary but I embraced it none the less and boredom has never been an issue! I think it's the motorcycles.......... _________________ Yamasarus

| Congratulations Rizingson! Enjoy your retirement -- after 35 years, you have earned it. The name of the game now is to maximize the number of pension checks you will recieve. May they be many! |

| Hey thats great Rizingson, you must be excited. It must be a good feeling when you can embrace your hobby full time, or at least whenever you want to. Are you already making plans to fill your day. Let me guess, your wife believes she now has a full time gardiner, cook, housekeeper, shopper, accountant, butler. |

Thanks for the all the congrats and good wishes. Bentwheel, I don't know about full time cook and housecleaner, but the wife did mention something about different "expectations regarding domestic duties". Hope it's not too tough, guess there is no such thing as total freedom. Oh well, guess I can seek shelter in the man cave. That's why we build em' right? |

Congratulations on your milestone. As I get older and older, more and more of my friends are are also reaching retirement. And just like I have told them, I will tell you the same thing.........I HATE YOU!!!
Enjoy yourself, and if you're like some people, you'll be busier in retirement than you were when you were working.
