I am the proud new owner of a 1971 cb450. The bike is in great shape but has a non-original seat. Although the seat is also in great shape, I would like to replace it with a OE style seat. So, I have a few questions:

1. Will seats from other years/models of CBs fit?
2. Are there outlets for reasonably priced replacements?
3. Does anyone have a seat that will work?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks...

As a parts guy this is the thing with motorcycle seats. A OEM seat is perhaps one of the hardest things to find. The only the harder then a seat is scrambler exhaust. With most Japanese bikes there are always some sort of changes, that were made with each model year. What you are going to need to do is to look on Ebay, go to Swap meets, etc. Above all be patient.

Depending on your exact model, you need a seat with hinges in the appropriate place.
Saying it's a '71 may not be meaningful, as the title year may or may not correspond to "K numbers".
At CB K5, seats became side-hinged, rather than rear-hinged.
And if you have a CB tank, you'll need a CB seat - a CL seat is too long to use with a CB tank.

Seats can be a little pricey, but high quality replacement covers are available. With a little work they look really good.

I may have a CB450 Corbin Gentry seat, that will work, but you said you need a stock seat. But I would have to find them, and right now time is something I do not have very much of right now.
