One of my customers has an 82 Wing that is normally a sidecar rig here for me to replace the stator and remove the fairing then install a headlight & signals at the same time, no problem.

Have I ever done this to one of these bikes before? Confused No, I haven't. Twisted Evil
The bike use to belong to an idiot that loved wiring all kinds of stupid shit on the bike with coaxial wire and a bunch of other grades of wire and then cut all the wires & left them hanging every where, I have about 2lbs of wire now that went no where just laying in a pile in the back of the garage now. Mutants! Sad

I personally hate goldwings just for that simple reason. They are a nightmare to just remove parts off of. Just try tracing a short on one! I get another gray hair everytime I do it.

I don't normally work on Gold Wings and have not touched one in 10 years because I don't like working on them either but, the customer is a 7 motorcycles in his garage including a 79 CBX customer of mine and I cannot just send him to someone else since any old Honda is a Honda as far as I am concerned and they all make me money. Wink

The engine is out and the big gasket I need will not be here until Tuesday but, I am going to clean this engine up a little bit so I don't get nasty when I touch it.

30 year old motorcycles that have not had the engines cleaned thoroughly can and do leave a hell of a greasy mess on my hands & clothing, I don't like messy motorcycles. Shocked

I put the new stator into the engine and have that bitch back in the frame almost buttoned up but, it got too dark to see and it got a bit cool out there too. Since I am a sissy la la when it comes to weather, this beast will wait until tomorrow.

That job took longer than it should have but, it is done and the customer is extremely happy with the bike in it's new configuration and the working charging system.

I had fun working on that naked GL1100 above because it was just that, naked but, I have another GL and it is an 84 GL1200 with the side car this time and the bike is getting the brakes rebuilt that have been neglected for 28 years and I replaced the header pipes because they were rotting out at the welds behind the joints.

Good luck with the 84' GL. I don't like removing & working around tuperware either. I had an ST1300 that I put a cruise on. The plastic pieces drove me crazy.
