I have inherited my late son's bike and have completely rebuilt it. When I tried to start it, I found that the right side had an intermittent spark. I changed coils from side to side, with the problem staying on the right side. I then changed the feed to the coils from the igniter and the intermittent spark changed to the left coil. What I am wondering is could it be the igniter or the pickup coils. I have a service manual, but it doesn't tell how to check the igniter or the pickup coils. I did get it running once on the left cylinder and then after a few minutes the right one kicked in and it ran fine. I even took it for a little ride and it ran great but a few days later when I tried to start it the same problem. Does anyone know where I can buy an igniter for it or some way to test it or the pick up coil. I tried the local Yamaha shop here and they quoted me over 400 bucks for a igniter if they could even get one. I tried a few salvage yards also but no luck yet. Thanks for any help.
