Hi,

I moved to Sweden a little while back, and have just discovered new EU legislations restricting 2K painting here came in force 2 years ago.

So, I need a non-EU based spray painter that anyone can recommend to apply paint (provided) and stripping (provided). I will arrange shipping to and fro.

Or if anyone out there with the skills, and is retired, wants to repaint a K1 tank for me. PM me! I'm open to suggestions. Perhaps I can repay the favor with a parts scrounge or so forth.

The tank and side panels have no dents etc. Its just a repaint to original colors.

Cheers and thanks in Advance for any responses.

Jo

Are you talking a basecoat/clearcoat application?

maybe 2-pack polyurethane - (aka, 2-part) - base+hardener. It's the poly that is supposed to kill you. The Greenies are trying to get it banned here as well..

2K paint is an epoxy type paint consisting of the base plus a catalyst to start the chemical reaction that the paint needs to cure

I found a paint supplier to do the original 2k (2 pack ie 2 component) at http://www.motorradlack.de/ and ordered the paints and found a local friendly painter here in Sweden to do the job. Results are good but some interesting notes for those who will do attempt the same job (with original white striping)..

The 2 component worked a treat. But the clear that came with the paint, was a slight brown in colour. This added to the Candy Jade Green original look but provided tricky for the painter when overspraying the white stripes! clearly!

So a note for those ordering from RH mottoradlacka for their great paints... make sure you do the black and tone and striping with a seperate clear coat from another manufacturer.

Other than that. All good. Thanks for the comments. Photos to follow.

EU restrictions on paint are for cars only for the moment, not for trucks and motorbikes.

Yeah, onto that. but trying to find a swedish bike painter that wasnt aware of this and overcharging accordingly was a small challenge. Overcome now, thanks to the Greek painters I found who did a sterling job. Greeks in Sweden that is. Smile
