Hi everyone!

My name is Jason and I just picked up a 1967 CL 160. It runs and is in ok condition. I am currently trying to figure out why the brake light just stays on and doesn't respond to either brake.

This is my first bike in over 10 years. It's great to be back at it.

You got a bad brake light relay. Check your wiring. Now that was easy one to figure out. Saying that because they always go on those bikes, well most bikes of that era.

Check the spring-adjustment thingie on the rear brake pedal switch. Might be stuck open.

I'm just up the road from you in LaPorte.

Yeah, the spring needed adjusted. It was stuck open. Thanks!!! Since I have the attention of some hoosiers, are there any good shops around Indiana? There's nothing in Winona Lake.

Not really any who are willing to work on our old stuff - we're more or less our own support group...........

hello from louisville ky! we've got magnum motorcycles, specializes in the vintage japanese bikes. great dirty old shop, tiny, but they'll get what you need. not really an online presence, Magnum Motorcycle Parts & Salvage 1459 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40210 (502) 776-2142. might be worth a shout if you need something.

Hi Jason,

It's good to see another Indiana old bike lover. I'm in Mishawaka and slowly working on a 86 Honda 450 Nighthawk.

Nice CL 160! brings back fond memories as my first full-sized motorcycle was a 1968 CL 160 back in 1971 when I was in 7th grade. I recall that bike being way too big for me at that age, a lot faster than my previous mini-bikes, and having next to no brakes. Thinking back I really cant believ my dad bought me that bike. Hmm...maybe he was trying to get rid of me as I was always a trouble maker! Smile Wish I had one again so thanks for sharing the pic.
