What about a base of Duplicolor Wheel Paint Bronze
with a coating of l Duplicolor MetalCast Orange Which is like a tinted clear.
Should end up being a candyish metallic orangy brown, or just dang ugly.
So many interesting thing to do paint wise. I love that Bronze color. Maybe I'll go straight bronze. Bikes are easy to paint no? Can redo it every month if one really wanted to. _________________ recently acquired '72 CB500K Jeff

I found the wheel paint to be pretty "tender", and ended up using regular Duplicolor Engine Enamel instead.
Seems to be a lot tougher and more durable.
Just speaking from my personal experience........ _________________ Bill Lane - CB200-CM200-CB450-C70M-CL350

This darn close:
KBC07 Root Beer HOK
or this
Honda Element touch up
I think I'll get a spray of that Honda Element touch up and redo the side cover I cracked (twice) and see what I think, then maybe try the tank. I do like the Root Beer and original (looking) color is probably wise in the long run.
BTW rode it again today, only 30ish degrees but it was a short run. She goes well, pipes and decel backfire/popping made me smile. _________________ recently acquired '72 CB500K Jeff |

Hmmm - since you posted pictures of wheels, I though that's what you were talking about??
I wouldn't use engine enamel on the tank, etc........ _________________ Bill Lane - CB200-CM200-CB450-C70M-CL350

Jeff,With the proper metallic base underneath I would think you should be able to get a close match with either of those.Just keep looking at it in the sun between coats to get the correct shade.
FYI you can get that HOC paint locally with out the extra $7.95 shipping.I've used the red to re-tint the lens' on the light bar on my wing.Works great for faded len's _________________ member "Vintage Rice Burners"

Where's a good place to go for HOK in a rattle can? (House of Kolor I think that means).
I've got the side cover all prepped, cracks taken care of and primered up. Looks good. Pulled the emblem and will clean up and touch up. It's gunna look nice. _________________ recently acquired '72 CB500K Jeff |

The testers can usually be found at hobby shops, but the KENOWA at 12th ave and Chicago dr. is a HOK dealer.
I will try to remember to check the number tomorow. _________________ member "Vintage Rice Burners"

Anyone have any ideas on good touch-up paint for frames? Black rattle can seems like it'll just F things up. No?

I grabbed a can of the testers and hit the side cover with it. Good color, bit darker than stock I think but good. Not sure what to do with the clear coat. I'm not good at this. I've got several light coats but it's pretty "orange peely". Scared to do a heavy coat threat of runs ya know. Do you polish the clear out or do a heavy coat? I don't do this much apparently. _________________ recently acquired '72 CB500K Jeff |

I like to use Dupli-Color Engine Enamel Ford Semi Gloss Black. I have touched up frames with this and sometimes its hard to tell that you did. Your results may vary though.

Started polishing out the clear coat.
First attempt, not too bad. I burned through a couple edges and don't know if there's enough clear on there to get a mirror finish but I understand the process now. The color is spectacular and the finish "could be" mirror smooth if I can get the hang of the process. It quite a bit darker and "redder" then OEM though, still, nice color and I think it will be okay for a side cover. _________________ recently acquired '72 CB500K Jeff |

wow did I screw this up, decided it needed more clear but after it dried cloudy, too humid I guess. I put under a desk light and sure enough the heat drew out the moisture and I thought I was golden.....wrong. It then melted. Yes believe it or not the heat from light bulb, though 6 inches or so away was enough to distort the plastic. I tried to reheat and massage back to shape but no joy. Dang, shoulda quit while I was ahead. Might try reheating again, might try filler and starting over, might just put it on the bike and forget it. Might try to source another cover that is at least straight and start painting all over again, the last choice is probably the best one, if one can be had without too much $$. _________________ recently acquired '72 CB500K Jeff |
