I recently acquired a free 1980 KZ250. It's a neat little bike and I was thinking about building a stripped down cafe' racer out of it.

I already have a '75 XS650 and a '71 CB500/4, so this would be just for fun.

I'm having a hard time finding people that know much about the 250 singles. KZRider.com focuses on the 4 cylinder bikes. There are a couple of KZ400 sites that focus on the twins. No one seems to know much about the 250 single.

I'm pretty sure the engine is going to need an overbore. I know the 250 shared a piston with some ~'77-78 KZ1000 models.
www.motogrid.com lists the .040 overbore piston for the KZ250 as SKU number 13027-1005.
This cross references with the '77-78 KZ1000-A1 model.

I found a piston on ebay that's listed as SKU # 13027-1003. It also shows up as an .040 piston for the KZ1000-A1 model.

Think that piston and ring set would work on my KZ250?

Hey Barry. I'll call when we get the engine out and apart. The engine is stuck right now....if I need more than just a hone, do you have overbore pistons?
