| The eight valve GS750s and GS850s got poor gas mileage even when they were running right. By 1982 the gas mileage of the 8 valve design was getting better. My 1982 GS1100g (eight valve) got better mileage than my 1976 GS750. The GS850g I had was a gas hog and got the worst mileage of any bike I have ever owned. (28mpg) By comparison my 1980 GS750E was a much more efficient design. It got about 51mpg. |

I wish i got 28 mpg or better I think i was avg. around 12 mpg. I tore the carbs apart and discovered the mains were 8 jets sizes bigger and the pilot jets were 3 sizes bigger than stock. I think i found the problem to very poor mpg and the raw fuel coming out the exhaust.
Anybody know a good place to buy Mikuni parts? |
