Before winter sets in.

Added a center stand since B models didn't come with one, and also put on a Mac 2 into 2 exhaust.

That looks great. I didn't realize there was a KZ440. I thought the only 440 was the LTD.

Wow, that sure is a sweet-looking machine!

What exhaust was on it before? Was it the OEM 2-1? Could you have kept that, or would it have interfered with the centerstand?

GreenMountain, you're very nearly correct. From what I remember, at least here in the US, the LTD outsold the standard by something like 10-to-1! Those years were the heart of the cruiser beginnings y'know - Specials, LTDs, L's, C's, on and on... Smile

Nice bike, SF!

You have a really reliable motorcycle. I have a friend who has over 40,000 miles on his and it is still going strong. Even tho it did not sell very well in the states, it is extremely popular world wide.

Thanks everybody, a buddy of mine that worked at the Kawasaki dealer here when these were new said dealers would only order 1 or 2 of the B model a year, and a lot more LTDs. Laughing

The 440 standards were only sold in the U.S. for 2 years, after 1981 it was all LTDs.

It had the factory 2 into 1, which I still have hanging up. I could've kept it on if I made a bracket to hold down the center stand. I just like the look and sound of a 2 into 2 better.

That's good to know since mine has half that, I should be able to get a lot of years before a rebuild. It still has excellent compression. Cool

You really have that bike looking nice. I had to go find your other pictures and compare. I like the looks of the 2 into 2 exhaust better, but did you notice any performance issues with the new system?

I'm a fan of laced wheels and the TLS front brake panel. I guess that makes me an old timer. Anyway, I like what you've done with it!

There is a 1981 KZ440 Limited for sale in my area for $350 on Craigslist -- totally different appearance.

Thanks, It has more torque down low, but it's a little lean up top. I have some bigger main jets lying around that I may stick in.

I'm a fan of the TLS front brake also, it looks more vintage, and it has plenty of stopping power for this bike. I'm 26 so that should make you feel better. Laughing

The LTD is practically a completely different bike besides the engine, even the frame and swingarm is different.
