Hi all:

Last winter I had my front rim re-chromed and I laced it loosely and had it trued and balanced at a dealer over the winter months. I find now that it is not very true and I see a wobble and feel it in the handle bars when going over 40 mph (it's a cb175 so most of its life is under 30mph around town). Here's my question......does anyone know of a shop who can true and balance this rim correctly in the West Michigan area? If not, does anyone have any suggestions as to what type of shop to take it to? Dealer? Bicycle shop? Can I do this myself with the right tools? Any tips are appreciated.

Thanks!

Ditto.

It's a lost art in the motorcycle world, though it shouldn't be, as it's simple and actually pretty rewarding.

Good bicycle shops on the other hand still know the trade and often, you'll find that they already do motorcycle wheels.

I had the same question and ended up using a bike shop truing stand. Here is the post.

ITS NO BIG DEAL TO RETRUE A WHEEL GET A TAPE MEASURE OR RULE AND START MEASURING FROM CENTER OF HOLE TO OUTSIDE OR INSIDE OF RIM WHEN YOU FIND A SPOT OUTSIDE THE COMMON DIMENSION TIGHTEN OPPOSIT SIDE OF RIM SPOKES A FEW AT A TIME KEEP TURNING WHEEL AND CHECKING FINALLY AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUITS YOUR WHEEL WILL BE TRUE OR AT LEAST MUCH TRUR THAT WHEN YOU STARTED ALL SPOOKES WILL HAVE TO BE SNUG ON RIM OR IT WILL RUN OUT AGAIN IN TIME. OIL THE SPOKES AT ADJUSTMENT NUTS TO SOFTEN UP ANY RUST.
GOOD LUCK FAST HONDA
