New to the forums, just picked up an M12-2 which appears to be around 68 I think. I cleaned out hte tank and carb , but unfortunately didnt write down the air and idle screw settings. The bike will not idle for me, it just dies as i let off the throttle. Does anyone out there have a well tuned m12 who might be able to share settings with me? Or possibly shed some light on why its doing this?

Tried searching but didnt find much.

thx

I'm pretty sure all such models from that area used the same idle mixture setting which is 1 1/2 turns out from seating as the starting point (and usually all that is necessary).

So tighten the air mixture screw in until it lightly seats, turn out 1 1/2 turns and it should idle with proper cable and/or throttle stop screw adjustment. You may have to tweak it a little either way from the 1 1/2 setting to get it to increase and decrease rpms sharply when throttled.

Kool bike!

Ok well Ill try that again. I'm also going to do a compression test, which I should of really done to start with. My friends k11p seemed to be at 1 1/2 out on the air and 1/2 on the idle. im wondering if when i reassembled the carb i put the clip on wrong on the needle?

thx

Check your pilot jet,you can clean a carb real good, and still have a little trash in the pilot jet and it will effect at idle
