OK, so i bought an old 71 cb350, got the thing to run, and then took it apart to clean it up, paint the frame, etc. Now i just cant get the thing to start. It fired up on one cylinder for a bit, but now nothing. Left side has never fired, even though I have spark with the plug pulled. I've cleaned the carbs, installed a new points plate with points. new plugs, new battery. I've got spark, I've got gas, but it just will not fire up now. Any thoughts? I'm stumped.

Well, since I just went through this, maybe it will help a little. My points cover was grounding out my left side points wiring. I simply turned the wiring (the one that screws directly to the points) back 90 degrees, and that solved my problem with my left side not firing. I found out it was not working with cover on by sticking a test light in the connector to the coil and tried starting. No light. But then I took the cover off and did the same thing, and I got the light to come on and off.
And I took the advance unit apart and didn't know how to put it back together. You can install it 2 ways, one is right, and one is 180 degrees from right and it will be wrong. But when I checked my timing with the timing marks on the alternator, it all worked out, so I must have installed it correctly. Hope this helps Very Happy
