I had been hearing about Boeing's penetrant lubricant of the very highest specification, Boeshield T9, so I tried some. I give the stuff eleven stars out of ten. The only inconvenience, if it can be considered one, is that it should be applied the day before you ride when used on your drive chain. The stuff seems to work so well on my control cables they feel as though they have internal nylon or teflon sleeves inside now. It is simply the best I have found. Sears now carries it. It isn't cheap, but the best of anything rarely is, and as the old Brylcream hair oil ads used to say.. "a little dabble do ya"
Sears now carries it. I guarantee no disappointments here. Boeing Aerospace knows their stuff, and their lube/penetrant/antioxidant specifications go into outer space, literally. Perfect for keeping old bikes in good shape, and it freed up some very old control cables I had been storing for years in high humidity.
I went and bought a gallon of it. Thought I would let Clubmembers know what I found out after using it. Jim Smile

Good recommendation. I'll check at my local Sears.

I was on their site and it looks like they make several products. Which one did you use?

I used the T9 that is probably the most commonly used, probably; and it is the compound recommended for motorcycles and bicycles on their website. I have a friend who uses this on his Saltwater Sailboat and positively RAVED about how it penetrated cables and guides and deeply oxidized marine fixtures and winches and about everything else he had that was either moving or fixed on his boat, which he lives on. Next I expect him to start putting it in his breakfast cereal and rubbing it on himself as a skin oil or something.
In any case, Boeing Aerospace knows their stuff, and my tax dollars probably helped finance the research and development on this through NASA or something. I figure if it is good enough for the Space Shuttle it ought to do JUST FINE on my machines. I just freed up a winch mounted on my John Deere Gator with it now... runs smoother and seems to pull harder, too, using fewer amps.. I checked it with my Fluke Meter.
Also started using it on my valved plumbing fixtures around the house and shop and my farm impliments, too. Hinges on the barn, on and on. I wouldn't make a nickel if you bought a million gallons of the stuff, just to let you know, but I have been goofing around with all kinds of stuff on land and sea and air for almost 60 years now and I dislike phony performance claims from anyone or anything... getting crotchety in my old age, I guess... but this juice flat out WORKS, so I say good on them and they get my money, end of subject. Jim
