What an interesting group you have, I learned about your group when your member steve..oh I can't remember the rest of name visited the Omaha, NE area VJMC web site. I look forward to reading more of your posts. I live in a town north of Omaha and ride a 1982 Yamaha Vision that I am the original owner of purchasing the bike new in 1984. I rode my Vision continuously from 84 to 1994, then the bike took almost a ten year rest and was fixed up and back on the road for over four years now, I ride it everywhere I can. I am also a member of the Riders of Vision. I will now try a picture of myself and see if it works, ah it didn't work, another time.

Larry, if I was a betting man I'd bet you have no other Vision's here. The Vision was what I will call a "very unique" bike that Yamaha built and it was somewhat beyond it's time back in 1982-1983 but it will never (again my opinion) become a "classic". You won't see them in the museums.
I think alot of Vision's became junk because of their finicky carbs and stator problems-an owner would start having these problems, the bike wouldn't run right and the dealer would quote him a repair costs far beyond the salable value of the bike and the bike would then sit getting even worse.
I tell you and anyone else reading this, these are all fixable problems, there is a lot of information how to fix all these problems on the ROV web site and when set up right a Vision is a very nice mid size bike you can ride anywhere. It has a wonderful smooth v-twin engine with a great powerband. BUT, were you to find one for $500 you can figure on at least that much or more to fix it up-that's doing it yourself-it is not practical to pay a dealer (if you can even find someone to touch it) to fix it, and then you will have abike with a thousand+ in it and these things will only bring a thousand if you sale it.
So you have to love the bike as I do-anytime I think of moving onward I realize that functionally, the Vision is still a very good bike, so why spend the money!

Welcome to vjmog, don. As you have already figured out, there's a lot of interesting people and info here. Although I know nothing about your bike, I'm sure that I read an article about the Vision and it's owner group. I just don't remember where.
OK, now we need pictures.

Yamaha Vision. Very awesome motorcycle. I know two guys that have had them and loved them. Smoother than you would think for a V-twin. 550cc liquid cooled, shaft drive with a unique fairing. Make sure and post a pic of your vision in the Yamaha section. I saw your forum and had to post something. This is a much larger forum and audience. Enjoy! I will try to do that this weekend, need to figure out how your system works, seems each group a person belongs to does it different. Oh wait, I do have a picture in the office computer and it looks like it is going to work-this picture is about two years old but me and the Vision don't look much different today.

Not a very good picture of the fairing. That is a Vetter Bullitt-that maynot be spelled correct, it doesn't really go well with the bike but I've had it on now for 20 years so until it breaks it stays.

Here are some more pictures, some are Vision, some are from the VJMC rally in Arkansas, I couldn't get the computer to not let me select all-so what the heck, since they are on photo shop it doesn't take up any space, enjoy! Hope this works!

Bentwheel, there is actually quite a group of Vision riders in Eastern Canada, you may want to visit the Riders of Vision web site sometime. There is a man on the website called "Tiger" with very extensive Vision knowledge. He has put about ten or more Visions back on the road in the last two years in Eastern Canada, quite a guy-hope to meet him someday.

Oh hi Don, I know you from the ROV. I post as XSwheels there. It's a small cyber world isn't it. I know Tiger and have been over to his place a few times. Last year Wolf and I rode up to Tigers' for his Spring Ride. I actually bought my Vision from Tiger in Oct '08. Didn't you write a story in the VJMC mag about a cross State riding adventure on your Vision a while back? Anyway welcome to our little Japanese forum.

Ha, you caught me, yes, I am don_vanecek on ROV and I wrote the story on my ride to the ROV get together in June of 2007 in Colorado both on the ROV site and the VJMC magazine published a condensed version. I was going to post some of the pictures from that here but it appears the photo shop account they were on has now expired.
Frankly I'm not surprized that another working Vision on this site is also not a person from the ROV site-you just don't see Visions on the road!
By the way I envy what appears to be such a nice group of you Canadian guys that get together with Tiger's help, but gee it's two hard days of driving time to get to your area, although Kenny would think nothing of it!
