Man spots own truck with ATV in the back after theft

STELLARTON — Just 13 minutes after the crimes were reported Monday, police nabbed two suspects in the thefts of a pickup truck and an ATV.

At about 6 a.m., a MacKay Street resident looked out his window to see a familiar truck drive past his house.

"He saw the vehicle go by and said, ‘Oh geez, that looks like mine,’ " said Stellarton Police Cpl. Paul Pentz. "And then he saw the bike in the back and said ‘That is mine.’ "

Fortunately for the vehicle owner, police had stepped up their presence on Stellarton’s MacKay Street in light of two investigations just down the street, the officer said.

Moments after receiving a call from the vehicle owner, police spotted the stolen truck with an all-terrain vehicle in the back and gave chase.

About 13 minutes after the call came in, police had a man and woman in custody in connection with the vehicle theft, Cpl. Pentz said.

Police stopped the suspects in McLellans Brook, a few kilometres outside Stellarton.

Stellarton police, New Glasgow police and Pictou County RCMP were involved in the arrest of the pair, both area residents.

The undamaged vehicles were returned to the owner by midday.

The suspects face charges of vehicle theft and breach of probation. A court date has not been set.

Nail the pair of em' to a tree upside-down for the whole damn world to see. I think this is the only way to stop crime. Maybe that is a little to crass for the tree huggers out there, so just feed em' to the junk yard dog.

There is always a realistic solution to repeated offenders. Rapists and child molesters should have their sexual organ removed surgically. Thieves...their fingers. Im thinking the possibility of such punishments would have quite an impact. I think it would chill the thrill real quick. First offense, incarceration. Second offense, resolution. Tolerance zero. Game over.

Then 3 years later the real criminal is discovered with better evidence and the dickless and handless innocent guy sues us all to oblivion and with great shame. Rolling Eyes

Some cops tend to get a hard on for someone and dog them until they can prove a case, it doesn't always mean they are really guilty.
