Hello everyone,
I have a question for anyone who is familiar in this area. We are looking at a 1973 Honda cb 450 and the bike is currently completely dissembled. I am trying to find out the seat height from the ground and the width of the seat once it is together. After restoration the bike will be for my daughter and height might be an issue
Thanks for the help

Most of the old twins have a seat height of about 30-31".
Not sure about the width, my seat has been modified.......

If the height is a problem, you can cut down the seat foam and recover, or you may want to consider one of the 80's era "Hawks", which sit lower.

Also. I am not sure of the width, previous post seems on the money for height. A different set of shocks (shorter) or a rear lowering kit that changes shock angle would help. The fork tubes up front can be allowed to extend up through the tree about an 1"-1-1/2" with no handling problems or bizarre appearance. You are definately thinking in the right direction, as far as safety goes, both feet firmly planted at a stop, or for that matter anytime where balance is a factor. My wife rides a full size H-D and is "inseem challenged" so her bike has been drastically lowered by about every trick I know and she can have both feet down. Hope this helps a little....Blue

Blue,
Thanks for the suggestions. The Honda deal fell thru,(changed his mind ) so we are going to fall back and regroup for the time being. My Daughter wants to do this on her own so she will shop around for something in a little better condition. So far the early to mid 70's CB's seem to be the front runners. We will keep you posted. Thanks for the help
Chris
