Ive written about 400, this is just few

the brink

I look in my mirror
what do i see
an older man
staring back at me

he's been getting grey
longer in the tooth
never had much to say
but. likes to hear the truth

his hair to his shoulders
eyes that are tired
never having the touch of others
his mind is hard wired

so many muscles that ache
two legs that are bowed
how much of this can he take?
and by young people. he is loathed

his knowledge is cast down
it's twisted and torn
he's looked at as an old clown
he sometimes wishes, he was never born

so,what did he conquer
through all of his life?
he loved his father and mother
he,then took a lovely wife

he,raised his children well
worked his fingers to the bone
taught his loved ones about heaven and hell
but now, he's all alone

he's left to die alone
with his own thoughts
he hasn't got a home
so why, was it all in wrought?

still,he thinks
it,must of been Gods will
I stayed away from the drink
so ,there's life left in me still

maybe it's to keep others from the brink

of loneliness and heart break
