1982 750 Maxim: There is a threaded engine plug on the right side below the oil pump cover. The o-ring has rotted and hence the oil leak. I cracked this plug trying to remove it. As it serves no real purpose other than to drain the oil if the bike is lying on its right side (not recommended...) a replacement part cannot be located. I have scoured websites and the dealer exhausted all of his resources. Anyone out there have any ideas where I can find this plug and o-ring? Picture attached.
Thanks.

Do you know if Yamaha made a factory oil cooler for this bike? Are these plugs perhaps where that oil cooler would connect?

I know the XJ900 version of these motors I owned had a factory oil-cooler, as did XJ650 versions I looked at however I'm fairly sure the oil cooler was not fed from that plug.

It would help if you've got the Yamaha part number. If you had that you could go to http://www.nwvintagecycleparts.com/. A lot of times he has hard-to-find parts and what he's got is mostly NOS. Right prices, too. Give 'em a try. They're good people.

The plug was used cap a passage drilled in production of this engine. It should be Yamaha part # 4H7-15189-00-00 with an oring # 93210-21276-00. both still show to be available from Yamaha USA. Any Yamaha dealer should be able to order this for you.
