I have a GPZ750 chassis that I'm going to build a cafe bike on. I like the aluminum uni-track swingarm (should look pretty sweet all polished up) the wheels, front end , brakes, clip-ons and I like the way it sits. I never gave it a second look with the bodywork on, and it's been in the back of my garage for two years. I took the bodywork off and the frame looked GREAT. The motor is junk and i took it out, but it does have a title and whats left is in good shape.
So I've decided that it's my next project bike. I'm going to go with the traditional cafe bike tank, seat and fenders etc... but all the rest can be anything. I picked up a '78 KZ750 twin engine, thought a twin would be cool. But the motor is too tall for the frame. Ooops Shocked So I'll have to get rid of that.
Anyone have any ideas on engines? The only thing it needs is to have the drive chain on the left and be short enough to fit in the frame. (I'll have to edit this to add the frame height)
Twin, four, single, 4-stroke, 2-stroke...any preferences? Any ideas?
Thanks.

Oh, and cheap is good. Laughing

Hard to find a cheap one of those, ( I looked Very Happy ) The big Yamaha 490 2 stroke singles aren't too expensive, don't know how it would work in a street bike though. Most of the 2-stroke street bikes that I remember are twins and triples, did they ever make a big 2-stroke single street bike?
