Hello all! I just registered with the forum and am excited to start digging through the information here. I've got a couple of 1970 CB450P Police bikes that I'm going to start working on. I'm sure that there is a lot of expertise here in the forums so I'm sure that I will be referring back regularly!

Are you still out there and working on the 450Ps? A friend of mine has recently acquired a 1970 CB450P also and is trying to get more information regarding the bike and is having a hard time.

I am still out here! Unfortunately, life has had a different idea of what my priorities should be. Smile I still have both bikes stored in my garage, but they have had no work done on them. Yeah, not much information on them out there. A lot of information suggests that there were less than 100 ever in the states, but I've heard a lot of variations on those numbers.

Good luck!

There is not that many sold here in the United States. I recently saw a CB450 Black Bomber Police bike, the owner told me it came from someone out in the Midwest. They are extremely rare, but they do exist.

I have a 1970 CB 450p I am starting to work on now these Bikes are very rare from information I have found and Iam near Des Moines if I can help let me know. however I am still looking for parts One thing I found and that you probably found is 25 imported in 1966 and the 1970 is a twin to the 66 makes me wonder if these Bikes where made in 66 for the US police market that did not work out and then stamped as 1970 and sold to the general public to get rid of them

If it is a 1966 CB450P, that would mean that the bike is a Black Bomber, the one that I saw is a CB450P from 1966 which was a Black Bomber police bike. If that is the case, the dealers would usually remove the police package from these bikes for civilian sale. The 1966 CB450P that I saw had the whole police package, radio, siren, flashing lights, etc. They were used quite heavily in the European Market, even tho the Police Departments in the United States preferred Harley Davison.
Now I do have a question to ask you does your bike have a toaster tank? Chrome panels and the rest of the tank painted?

The 25 number (for the 4-speed variant) is also what I've read - most went to the Pennsylvania State Police, as I understand it.

There are also anecdotal reports from several people of a 5-speed K1 P-type.........though I have yet to see photos, I have no reason to doubt these guys.

I have tons of P photos -

450p here the 1970 450p I have is factory white with the toaster tank with factory crash bars speedo that locks in for reference Iam missing the siren and side lights but brackets are welded to the crash bar all the pictures I found of the 1966 to 1970 police Bikes all look the same. With drum brakes front and back I think 1970 was the first year for the front disk on the cb 450 in the US. I have read the CB 450 p was based on the Black Bomber I found 68 69 and 70 in my seaches but at this time no 67 I plan to see if a title seach will let me know if it was sold here by Dealer or shipped over here by someone in the service I was told by a freind that if you was in at service at the time you could have shipped it back for free Thanks for your input

Judgeing from what you told me. You actually have a Black Bomber Police bike. Your bike is actually a 1966 CB450P, but when sold in 1970 the title was issued in the year that it sold. Now finding the actual police stuff is going to be hard, but it is out there. Just take you time and do not rush things. Go to as many swap meets as you can, and you will find this stuff.
