I recently picked up a '79 KD100. It runs, but is hard to start and once it's running, will run okay for 10 minutes then bog down and quit.

During start up, it oil fouls spark plugs, i have 3 and clean and rotate them until it finally starts.
It smokes a bit at start up, then as it's running, not bad to a two cycle.
I tested top end compression came in very good at 150 psi, previous owner claimed he rebuilt top end.....so that checks out.
I notice quite a bit of oil comes out the exhaust.
I drained the crank case, and what came out looked like straight STP oil treatment or 90 W gear oil. I filled with 10w40.

I suspect bad oil seals at the crank shaft?? I'm not really kean on breaking the motor down now, would like to wait till next winter. And don't want to assume they need replacement without a good reason

I'm using NGK B7hs plug, and am going to try a hotter B6.

I'm going to replace the thottle/oil pump cable so i'll check the oil adjustment, but since it doesn't smoke alot while running, I'm kinda thinking that is not the problem.

What say you?

Thanks
