Introducing myself, I already have a '82 Suz GS450 that I toodle around on,

looks like I'm acquiring a '74 Suz T500 now from the same guy.

Can't pick it up until the end of next month when I get a break from work. Just thought I'd share, and I'm sure I'll be asking for help soon!
Very Happy

Yep, GSresources.com has been a lot of help on the GS450, but obviously no activity on the T500 over there.

Welcome to the VJMOG. I was an Air Force 'brat'. Done deal on the T500? I would hate to see it slip through your fingers. After inspecting the bike carefully for safety ..... It looks like it may be a wash, polish and go? Smile Is it running?

I offered cash, he accepted, I guess it's as done as it can be. He sent me a video of it at idle, and blipping the throttle. Whether it runs well enough to propel me and it under it's own power, we'll have to see. I will be getting some spare parts along with the deal, too. Can't wait until I can get up there to get it back home!

I'm in Hattiesburg...Give me a shout when you get down this way--601-264-6099 Danny Mac. We'll talk Suzukis. Where does your T500 get picked up? Seems I'm always on the road!

Have you ridden a T500? Such a very different character to come to know than that of the well mannered 450 twin you have already.

Got to trek to Ohio to pick it up. Nope, never ridden a Titan, 250 Yamaha twin was the biggest twostroke I've had experience with (a long time ago)

Just got back from Ohio late last night with the new/old T500 project. Bunch of spare parts, too, although much of it is junk. It runs after a fashion, left carb is leaking, and left cyl loudly pops about every 15 seconds with a explosion of oily soot out the left muffler. Have already pulled the carbs for a rebuild, and have a new set of front forks that still have chrome on them. Lots of cleaning to do. Pics attached

Hey AF,
Your last post slipped right by me via me not being online as much as I use to be and the post somewhat buried in the introductions forum..... I just now noticed you picked up the bike. That 1974 T500 looks pretty good Thumbsup and the fact that you have a spare engine and tranny is a real plus. I also have a spare engine all taken apart, cleaned and nicely packed away along with many other various T500 parts. Please let me know sometime in the future if you don't think you will need that spare back wheel and might want to sell it. I may want one in the near future. Good Luck and have fun.

Dort500, I'll let you know about the wheel later as I get a better idea on what I'm going to need to keep. Right now I'm hoping to find a frame and make a cafe for a second bike, if both engines check out good. I rebuilt the carbs on the bike so far, took it out for a short ride today. Brought it into the garage and right now the front end is off, want to swap on a good set of front forks (chrome-wise). I also did some electrical work replacing the regulator and rectifier, so it's charging good now. A better set of fork ears are soaking in oxalic acid to take care of small rust spots too. I have cleaned up the exhaust pipes, but also found a set on fleabay that may be better. Way too many things to do, can't do it all at once though, I'll have to pace myself. A couple of pics from the garage tonight, one of the bike on a lift (with no front end), one of a set of shelves full of spare T500 parts.

Hey Mike....Thanks for the shout out tonight. It was good to get to talk with you. Sounds like your project is coming along well, and you're looking ahead to your next one. Be sure and give me a shout, when you migrate South. Danny Mac.
