I recently bought a new drive chain for my 1970 ct70H but it seems to be to short. The old rusty chain that was on there is a 420M 46 link and the new one is a 420M 44 link. The sprocket has 45 teeth on it. Does anyone know what the correct chain and sprocket size for this bike is?

I went out to the shop to count the links and teeth on my '71 CT70-H model. It has a 45 tooth rear sprocket. I believe it is all original but have been fooled before. I didn't check the front sprocket. The chain has 46 outer links (92 holes) not sure how you like to count a chain. I think it is a 420 chain though not sure. It's possible the the auto clutch model used different size sprockets, as I've seen different tooth counts, as low as 35, on some later models according to the microfiche parts numbers. Also 14 tooth front sprocket according to bike bandit.

Just buy a chain that's too long and cut it to length....... _________________ Bill Lane - CB200-CM200-CB450-C70M-CL350

Thanks. Yeah i think i figured it out now. First, I counted the chain wrong. It is a 86 link chain. Secondly, the chain that I ordered from bike bandit is for the CT70 not CT70H. The bike is a 1970 but bike bandit doesn't have the "H" for that year. My rear sprocket is the 45 tooth, so I know that is correct. I will return the chain and get the correct one. Thank you for the reply.
