Hi all,

I was disassembling my 1970 CT70H because I heard some rattling going on inside the motor. I recently rebuilt the engine and thought everything was ok. Once I tore the left side cover off, I saw that the fly wheel was not secured to the crankshaft. I simply thought it was not tight enough but then looked closer and found that the woodruff key was basically worn down to the shaft!!! There is now nothing that prevents the fly wheel from slipping on the crankshaft. Luckily I can still buy the key from Honda but my question is; How do I get the old one out?. Like I said it is basically worn down so that it is smooth with the crankshaft. Any helpful responses would be appreciated. Thanks

If you put heat on the shaft it will destroy the engine seal. I would use a small punch and hammer. The key is rounded on the bottom so it should slide out with a couple good whacks on one end of the key.
