I'm in the process of restoring a 1969 CB 175 that's been in the family since new. I have the chance to snag a 1971 CB 175 for parts. I know the bodywork, panels etc are different but was wondering if engine, frame, wheels, mufflers were the same . Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Gary

Is the earlier motor a "sloper" and the later an upright?

The very early CB as well as CA and CL were slopers. The rest had upright cylinders.

There was also a CD175. One of my brothers bought one new. Steel, painted, deeply valanced guards.4 speed box and single carb.My memory, not always reliable, says it was an 'upright' version.

I have a '68 CD175 and it is the last year for the sloper motor although it was sold into '69. My '69 CL175 K3 is upright. The upright motor came out in June of '69 and all CB's and CL 175's had upright motors. I'm not aware of any major engine changes from those years, but can't guarantee there isn't.
Edit - I just rembered the first CL 175 in '68 was indeed a sloper also. Sorry my bad.
Both the CD and CL's did change to upright twins mid '69.

The 1969 CB175 is the K3 model, which I'm pretty sure is the first year of the upright engines.

The best way I've found to check details and parts interchange is to look at the parts catalog for your specific yr/model, and then check one(s) you want to compare.

Here's a link to the site I use for parts. Its already on the CB175K3 catalog. To change yr/model; just click on New Model and follow the drop downs (when it asks for Year, choose "Years with no model", then select the bike you're looking for.
