Hello everyone.

I live in Alaska and just picked up a 76 GT500. It's going to be my winter resto project this year. It's in pretty good shape overall, but needs some TLC.

I do need a new/replacement gas tank for it so if any of you know where I can get one that would be great.

I look forward to the restoration and have already spent a boat-load for parts on eBay. I'll post pics as I go and become more familiar with the site and how it works.

Thanks everyone,

AC.

Welcome to VJMOG Cobra. Glad you found us. Now you say that you're from Alaska.......If I remember my geography right, that's a pretty big place. Could you narrow that down a little bit? Laughing A winter project, you say? You should be able to get a lot done since your winters are 10 months long Wink Laughing

........and yes, pictures are good.

............Paul

Thanks for the welcome...it's nice that someone did:)

I live just inside the interior near Tok. I live 300 miles from Fairbanks and 400 miles from Anchorage. The temps here get down to 50 to 70 below zero in the winter.

My project is kind of a long-distance winter project. The bike is currently in Louisville, KY my home town. I purchased it from a guy on Craigslist and had it take to my dad's home. I've been shopping for parts like a wild man and am accumulating a bunch. Once I have the bike in my possession I'll have everything I need to finish it.

I'm still looking for a tank though, the moron I purchased it from dropped it when he deliverd it and creased the left side of the tank.

Thanks,

AC.

I visited Alaska last year. Beautiful country! Thankfully it was June and the weather was nice.........sixties and seventies. I really enjoyed the lonnnng daylight. Very Happy

So what's the plan for the bike? Are you going to ship the bike north or are you going to go south for the winter?

......Paul

Currently, my plan is to ship the frame, engine, seat and tanks to Alaska when I go home for Christmas. Mostly everything else will be replaced with the parts I've acquired thus far.

If I can find a way to get it up here before that I will.
