I am attempting my first rebuild on my 72 sl 100, but am currently stumped. I apologize for my lack of knowlege for the names of engine parts, but I'll do my best to describe it.
I have removed the points cover, and also what i believe to be the contact breaker, however, I cant figure out how to remove what I think is the governor. The contact breaker has the wire connected to it, and behind that, there is a mechanism (governor?) with two springs. There is a bolt in the center of this and the manual says to loosen this bolt, but when I try to loosen it, the motor turns over. How do I remove this bolt without the engine turning over?
I am attempting to reach the camshaft and ultimately the top portion of the cam chain which is the source of my problems.

thank you all very much!

It's not a governer, it's the spark advancer.

Put the bike in gear and step on the rear brake, that will stop the engine from turning over.
Or else use a wrench on the alternator bolt to hold it in place.

Unfortunately, the motor is off of the bike right now, so I am unable to apply the brake-what is the alternator bolt? What does it look like and where is it located?
-again, I apologize for my ignorance!
