Hey everyone, brand new member here.

I live in Taiwan, and just bought a 1967 YA7. It's a little beat up, but it runs great, and only cost me about $85US.The only parts needed are the tank badges and, unfortunately, a new headlamp/speedo assembly, as the old speedo has cracked glass and has ceased to function, and the headlamp shell itself is cracked and the ring broken.

Problem is, there is a real lack of info on the web regarding these bikes, especially since the model names and numbers vary between Asia and the West.
Anyone out there have any good links to some reference material, or websites or whatever?
There are some here in Asia, but they are mostly Thai and Japanese, and there seems to be some confusion regarding the model numbers etc.

Cheers!

I am no Yamaha expert but we might find some here. I had a YA6 Santa Barbera 125cc two stroke single so a YA7 may be similiar. Let's help the guy out. What is a YA7????

I may have a headlamp/speedo assembly. Does it have YA stamped on it? Because I know I got some YA parts somewhere, just a question of finding them.

I never seen a YA7 before. I doubt it ever came to North America. It looks like it graduated from the YA5 and YA6, which were both rather ugly 125 singles even for the era.

From what I can tell, it was never sold in North America. It was strictly Asia and for some reason a few places in Europe.

As far as ugly goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess, haha. I have a fondness for these old beaters. I have a '68 Kawasaki as well.

It's a 125 cc two-stroke with auto-lube and electric start, so I'm sure that in most respects, the parts for a YA6 could be swapped over no sweat.
Taiwan is a goldmine as far as parts for these old Yamahas, Suzukis and Kawasakis goes. Everyone's grandpa seems to have one or two mildewing away in a garage.

Hi..

I've also bought a Yamaha YA7 and am currently on the process of rebuilding it.
It is very difficult to find out information about these bikes... In Europe there were only sold in Portugal and England and only a few. There are also some in Brazil, but they seem to be mostly found in Thailand and Japan (as you might expect!)

Any information about this model is appreciated...

Tanks!
