First, let me introduce myself, my name is Ryan and I own a 72 Suzuki T350. I purchased it off of a friend a few years ago and I am working on making it road worthy again.
One issue I am having is with the voltage regulation. While running at higher RPM's >5-6k the voltage in the system spikes to 18 volts. I found this issue out after burning out several bulbs this fall. I have found some info on under voltage, but not over voltage. Any ideas on where to start?
Second question is placement of the rear break light switch? I have what I think is the bracket, and I have the switch. I believe I know where the switch attaches to the brake lever, but I cannot figure out how to mount the switch. Does any one have a diagram?
Thanks,
Ryan

| That's typical of the Suzuki charging systems of that era. Your battery is the likely culprit. Check it for voltage after setting 24hrs with no charger on it. If it's 10.4 or less you have a bad cell, and the charging system will put out up to 19V to compensate. If your battery can't hold more than 12V for 24 hours get a new one. Just some rules of thumb I go by, but you can find plenty topics on batteries in this forum and decide for yourself.

I agree with Rizingson probable battery but a ? 6v or 12v think the early 350's were 6's check ground of battery to frame and it's possible rectifier could be bad should read high ohms one way low ohms the other this diagram is for a 250 but should be the same ... brake switch bracket hides behind frame tube

Thanks for the Help! I do beleive the battery is shot as it will not hold a charge overnight. I did not realize it would cause the over voltage behavior, I will replace the battery and try that.
And for the brake light switch, thanks for the picure I will check that location out tomorow.

| Brake light bracket sits between the lower mount on the rear of the oil tank and the battery box.

Went out and looked at it this morning and I see a spot on near the oil tank that looks like it is where it was removed from.
Now next question, anyone know where I can get the "spring/wire" that connects it to the brake lever?
