im in the process of puttin that 750f back together, im prob going with kenda challengers based on price alone , I need size recomendations, how much larger can I go than stock , rims look a little narrow but Id like a little size improvement. btw im not talkin OCC gianormous stupid lookin tractor tire sizes. (yes im a member of gianormous tires on bikes club).

Also ive got my centerstand sandblasted & as soon as I paint it its ready for install, its the one thing I didnt take pics of when I took it apart. anyone have a pic of one installed???

On stock skinny wheels I generally only go up one size. Anymore than that and it starts changing ride characteristics and you run the risk of rubbing.

But it's worth it cause you get to ride rather than just look at. Wink
Plus there is nothing nicer than the feel of new tires. Just remember to take it easy till they are scuffed up.

I ride a 79 cb750F and I'm attempting to keep it bone stock. I believe the stock tire size is 100/90 on front 19 in rim and 110/90 18 in rim in back. I went with Dunlop 404s I purchased on Bike Bandit. They are a bit on the skinny side, but have worked great for me. It sounds like you were hoping to go a bit fatter than stock. When I got my bike the P.O. had a 120 on the back (if I recall correctly) and that seemed to work fine (and looked better too). In the interest of keeping it stock, I went with the skinnier tire and it looks a bit skinny, but has seemed to perform well. Keep in mind, I ride very conservatively ( I tend to hear about this a bit from my riding buddies). Good luck and keep us posted on what you get and how you like it.

Good luck!

I went with 120 out back and it seems too wide. I should have gone 110/90/18 also.
But I do ride my wife on the back so the bigger size must help there.

I'm not sure that a bigger tyre would always be a better bet with a bike regularly heavily laden.I used to think that but then I learned about how the wider tyre 'pinched' in a little on what is effectively a rim too slim for it doesn't roll as smoothly into bends and that the slightly distended tyre carcase may not have as secure a contact patch on the road as the stock size for that rim. I'd suspect that a better bet is to stick with stock size but look for the highest load rating you can get in that size and run pressures set at the higher end of the scale.
Several times I up-sized the rear for various reasons(not realising the front and rear ideally are specified to complement each other) ....then wore it out...went back to stock size for the next one... and each time was surprised( I'm a slow learner) at how nimble the bike suddenly felt.
