Hi... I'm looking for a few parts for a suzuki T500.

1. Left side cover in decent useable condition without cracks + the knob to hold it in place. it really doesn't matter what style emblems it has on it, i plan on shaving them anyway.

2. battery tray, preferably with bolts. i'm short a bunch of bolts. lol

please let me know what you want for either of these things if you have them. there are several battery trays on ebay and i know i can get a good price on one.

the thing i need most is the left side cover.

thanks in advance.

What bolts are you short? I have replaced about 70% of small bolts/nuts,etc. with stainless on the T500. I have alot of the small bolts/fasteners. Do you still need a battery box? The spare one I have has rust and no tool holder/cross brace on it. I have made a drawing of the tool holder/cross brace if you are trying to look original and can probably make one.
Do you still need steering dampner knob/stem?..no damage. PM me if interested.

dorT500 - your blueprint of that tool holder is really quite nice. I have a '70 T500 and have been wondering where the COMPLETE tool kit that I have assembled will go! How about a '68 Cobra - does it have the same part (I am awaiting delivery of a Cobra now). I have been looking for that part and cannot find one - I cannot even find it in the parts manuals I have been looking at. Can you help me find that part? ALso, could you post some photos of that part so I can actually see how it looks fully assembled? And where does it attach to the battery box? It has been a long time since I did any sheet metal work but who knows. If I cannot make a couple, then I will have to hunt for the part or find someone to make a couple for me. Regards, ERic

As far as I know and using bike bandits search option the box and cross strap is the same for 1968 T500 through even the '76 and 77 GT500. The cross strap was not sold separately. Sorry I do not have a working camera to take a pic of mine and though the pic of a complete box is on ebay right now the pic really does not show the cross brace/tool holder well enough. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1975-Suzuki-GT500-GT-500-T500-battery-box-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2309e3f122QQitemZ150489788706QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories It looks like it is pretty rusty/beat up anyway. It is though the first time I have seen a complete box on ebay.

Perhaps someone with a T500 or GT500 can take two or three pictures of theirs and measure the thickness of the metal for you if you want to try and make the strap/holder or have one made. Good Luck

dorT500 - you might be gone with a puff of smoke and a blur of spoke, but as usual you leave a heck of patch of rubber on this board for the rest of us to get some traction on. Your posts are awesome. Thanks for the tip on that battery box w / cross strap tool bag holder intact. I had been looking on eBay and probably missed that because those photos were so bad. But sure enough close examination showed the tool holder bar in place. I bought that old rust bucket of a battery box for just $5.99 just so I could get my first look at that particular part (Suzuki part # 41550-15101 : holder, tool) - I finally found it in the parts manuals. I live in Virginia and the seller is in Virginia so the total cost including shipping is real low. I have searched far and wide for this part and even spoken to Paul Miller (he has none in stock right now). I have purchased three T500's over the years and none had that part. I might be able to clean up that rusty piece I purchased and use it, but I would really like to take it and your drawing to a metal shop and have a few fabricated. Of cource, I will also keep looking for those parts also. Thanks, Eric

OK, thanks to the post above from dorT500 I bought a rusted out battery box for $5.99 and it had a rusty tool holder bar intact on it. Luckily, it was not as bad as it looked. After a few naval jelly baths, some careful sanding, and a few coats of black rustoleum its a useable part. Then I came across this, the mother of all T500 tool bars

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360309203791&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

Hope you all can see it. The chrome bar is going on my 68 cobra and the one painted black is going on my 70 Mark 3 Titan. Got to get around to learning how to get some photos up here and when I do you all will see them. Best Regards, Eric

Holy Cow. Nice. Those '68 Cobras always get the pretty stuff. Crying or Very sad Wink
About posting pics. Have you checked the 'Test Suggestions and Board Information' forum in the VJMOG? Also this... http://vjmog.com/ftopict-6588-photobucket.html

If you would like me to post the pics for you until you get the process down, just email them to me. Don't worry that the pics may be too big...I will resize them to or just within 800 x 600. Great find on the part and let me know if you want me to post your pics and I will pm you an email address.

Just a test for me more than anything, trying to learn how to post photos with a link to sites like Picasaweb, etc... Let's see if it works - here are photos of two of my bikes, both of these are T500s; the 1970 Mk. 3 is green and the T500K is blue and white... both registered as vintage with actual vintage plates...
