105 would be the bottom end of the scale, but I would try to fire up the old beast anyway. If everything else is okay pull the top end and take a look. Low compression is no big deal to correct on these things.

That is what I thought guys. A "running" YDS3 with title has more value than a non runner. Last resort is to put old float back in and try it. Thanks!

Steve,
My last resort would be to cut that float open and push it back into shape as much as possible. Then solder it back up. After all, that's how it was originally made. Ain't brass wonderful! Smile

Steve now for the bad news I did check, and the float is no good. But I do have some interesting YDS3 parts NOS and used. I may have some pistons, and rings, all I need is a part number. I do have two oil tanks, and a pair of high pipes for the big bear. But right now I am still trying to inventory all my Yamaha parts NOS and used, a task that will take eternity.

Ooowww...Yamasarus I didn't see that post. Cut it apart, reshape and then resolder better. Heck, it is worth a try. See, two brains ARE better than one. Wish me luck.

That is about right!! Actually that is how I look right now with this Suzuki GS850. Damn, sputtering then found I forgot to put a diaphram return spring in #3 carb, thought that would cure it but didn't. Fouled plugs, more plugs, backfiring and poof, black face. This Suzuki is starting to piss me off. More new plugs tonight and then a prayer. Had carbs apart three times so far. Set floats, cleans jets, etc. U no the drill.

Sold YDS3 Don't need float anymore. Suzuki GS850 problem was the stator. Damn those Suzi's don't run very good without 12 Volts going to the electrics. Both headaches are gone and on to new headaches.

Steve,
I still am trying to learn suzuki electrics especially the GS series. I honestly am beginging to think they got some of the craziest electrics going out of all the Japanese bikes.

There is a guy I found on the internet that has those GS charging problems figured out and is making new and improved components. If I find it I will put the link on here. I could have gotten a new stator but didn't want to put another $300 into the rusty GS850. (Let the next guy do it.)
