Hey all. I've got a potentially problematic...problem...with my '80 CB900C. I was riding one day, and then the next it wouldn't start. The electronic start wouldn't do shit. No ticking...nothing. The headlight also doesn't work. Though I can work around the start button not working (the machine WILL start, I just have to roll it--no easy task!), the headlight is a big issue. I don't know enough about the wiring to figure out what the hell it is. Fuse? I checked them all, they look okay.... I'm sure there's a lotta wiring in there, so I don't wanna start poking around. Has anyone else had this issue (the bike only has about 40K on it--I got it from an ex's dad in HS), and if so how does it get fixed. The season is here, and guess who's stuck driving. -_-

Thanks!

could be a fuseable link as well... hell i've seen that issue before and all it was was loose connections on the battery!(mainly harleys for that tho)
good luck, and ANYTHING is repairable if its worth it to you sentimentally... I've got an Indian 4 frame thats been in the family since new, waiting for a concours restoration, so ANYTHING can be fixed with an unlimited amount of time and money if it means something to you.

I think your problem is in the starter button. Most Hondas have a starter button that cuts out the headlight when depressed. In other words, when you depress the start button, the engine should crank, but the headlight should go out until the button is released. If the headlight and starting problem happened at the same time, I would be looking at the switch or wiring. If you need a wiring diagram, I can email to you.

ignition issues check the following:
starter button
relay/magnetic starter switch
fuses
battery
wires (check the exposed wiring tug lightly at the connections, check wire connectors etc for corrosion.

I have a 94 magna that did the same thing a few times and each time it was a different issue.

Go to small engine
then motorcycle
then wet yourself.

Ebsco is a library and academic resource, so all these are up for personal use, again, personal use.

I think I just wet myself. I found porting specs for my YL-1 Yamaha and expansion chamber dimensions. Did you know they want you to mill the head and only use the top piston ring when modifying for racing. Cool!!!!! Keep this site available. Thanks.
