Hi All,
I'm new to the forum, and need some advice/help.

My Hubby bought an old Yamaha DX100 a couple of years ago and it has just sat in the shed. It now no longer starts, and I would like to get it going so I could sell it. My Dad says it needs a new battery, buy my Hubby says it doesn't need a battery, and of course, we don't have a service manual!

So I have a few questions;

Who is right, my Dad or my Hubby, and

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a DX100 service manual, as all my attempts at finding one on the net end up with keyboards!

Looking forward to your replies.

Did anyone test the battery to see if it has a charge? I personally would agree with your father, because a battery will lose its charge. Now something to check out is to see if it is not seized. For a manual you can try speed and sport inc. and/or CMSNL.com . They are in the Netherlands and a little bit more expensive but they should have a manual for it.

No personal experience with this business but might keep them in mind. They are showing having some used parts for that bike. Under 'Other Stuff' they mention service manuals but not sure if they listed any. ...Maybe email them? Good Luck

Usually Yamaha's do not need a battery to get spark. Only Honda electrics are setup so you need a battery. Of course, the blinkers etc. may not work correctly but there should be spark to the plug with no battery. Just electrical tape up the leads and see if you get spark.

Thanks all, I think I may have found a place in New Zealand which has a manual. Does $15 plus postage sound right?
