Yes, it came with a title and I found out it is a 1968. The seat is all black instead of white and black like the '67. Chrome front fender in '68 also but painted silver in '67. Those are the only differences. I got spark and the carbs are apart now. Fire in the hole before long! New tire and tube sitting next to the bike. Time, all I need is some time.

Twin Jet Power Baby!!! Got the YL1 running today. It sounds like it has a lot of pop. I need to turn the idle down and the only way to do that is with the top idle ferrule holding the idle rod. I am sure it will run better with the rubber air intake and air cleaner on. Does anybody have a pliable 2 into one rubber air manifold from the carbs to the airbox?? Mine is hard as a rock. What is the pattern for shifting on this thing? I need to put on a new back tire next. Will keep you posted of progress.

Have you ever tried soaking old rubber in glycerin to help revitalize it ? Almost any drug store should have it .

Sorry pd. I bought some glycerin and soaked my 40 year old hard rubber intake for 30 hours and nothing. I really thought there was nothing that would soften hardened rubber and I have yet to be proven wrong. Just to let all members know, glycerin just makes the old rubber shiny but will not soften old rubber. Bummer. Crying or Very sad

Maybe 30 hours wasn't enough ? Maybe 40 years is past the point of no return ...

I know one guy that says it works for him , but , most of what he works on isn't 40 years old.

I read different things on the boards and some seem like they might work . Some are just plain off the wall . I usually find the simplest being the best . There's another formula that some folks swear works , but I haven't tried that yet either . Toluene and wintergreen oil .

I'll be taking over the garage for the summer ( I hate cleaning snow off the wife's Envoy Wink ) .
And , I like experimenting . I'm not afraid to screw something up as I can usually make another of whatever it is .
I have a couple of ideas that need trying . If I find anything good , I'll post it .

There's a long thread about softening boots using wintergreen oil and xylene on the sohc/4 forum. Some say that it works well, but not sure how long it will last. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=62328.0

Steve, were you the one looking for air cleaner boots for a cb550?

K model. Any help would be appreciated as this is the only thing keeping this thing from being on the road. Not sur eif the K's and the F's use the same rubber??? Thanks.

You probably know this , but , the boxes have different part #s for the F & K . Having only the fiche drawings to go by , the carb to box boots look the same .

I would tend to think those boots would be the same on both models . Cheaper for Honda .

LOL Probably ...

But , If I was needing just those boots , I'd be willing to try some from an F .

BTW , Here's a link to a site run by one the local shops . The fiche seems more complete than some of the others I've used and it has a search by part # to identify what other bikes , if any , that part fits .
