|
|
Looking to sell my 1968 Yamaha YCS1 180. She's a beauty and my first love, but must go.
Thank you for looking at my bike! I have owned this one for about 3 years. Other than air filters, to the best of my knowlege everything is 100% original! It is obvious it did not get much sun. There is no fade in the factory blue /white metallic paint and the gauges are still bright. Front fender has a ding and could use some loving. One fork boot has a rip. Headlight by the key is marked up. One blem on top of the tank and seat. But over over all its very nice. The last time I rode it, it preformed flawlessly, that was about last summer. Engine, Trans and clutch are fine. Gas tank is very clean. I have a title. Serial numbers match. As you can see in the pictures it is very nice. Probably its one the nicer unrestored YCS1s anywhere.
ENGINE -2 cylinder 180 cc 2T oil injected
TRANS- 4 speed/wet clutch
ELECTRIC- Battery 12V
STARTER- Electric
MILLAGE- 7600
Thank you all for your help and please pass this along to anybody you know who might be interested in this beauty!

while it is a sweet little bike, you are about a grand too high.

I've been advised to sell at this price, people usually think it's fair.

| It won't sell quickly at that price. Seems a little high, but I've been way wrong before.

If you want top dollar (and who doesn't) put it on Ebay. It doesn't cost you if it doesn't sell.

They may SAY that but obviously they don't THINK that . They keep walking away .

It's all about perspectives.
The person who advised you to sell the bike for the price you are asking is thinking about the price from the perspective of a seller, not a buyer. That's too optimistic and just does not work in the real world. Anyone can shout a number and tell you what xyz is worth if they were going to sell it. When they want to buy something however, that number changes dramatically.
Every time I want to sell something, I put myself in the perspective of the buyer and think "If I was buying xyz, how much would I pay for it?". Then I ask a few friends, get a rough average, add 15% and put it up. If you get a lot of interest, the price is too low, and can be raised a slight bit...but that's a fine line.
Remember, people want to sell things for as much as possible and buy things for as cheap as possible. That's just how it works, and sometimes you have to make a compromise.

I guess that's as good an explanation as any .
I usually look at ' whatever the market will bare' . Comes down to pretty much the same end .

So according to you, how much should I ask for?
Isn't it kind of odd to talk about the price of something before asking any question about it and/or seeing it?

Being as I'm one to turn a dollar faster to reinvest for further growth , I may not be the best person to offer an opinion , but ... $1700 All Serious Offers Considered .

I've always been open to talk about the price.
I'm happy that for once someone is finally speaking up, even if $1700 is a bit low.....
Thank you for that.

No, price is the first thing I want to know because I have something in mind and I don't need any of these toys anyway. So...to me to have that toy I have this amount in mind. Even if it is perfect, mint I would not pay more than that to have the toy. It is just not worth it to me so I walk away so we don't waste everyones time. Steve Searles Pet Peave #331: Price must be in the Ad or shown on the article for sale IN ALL INSTANCES. Nothing worse than bothering someone at home, on the phone, at a swap meet when the price is not near either the buyer or sellers predetermined figure. Man, that bugs me, can u tell??
