Anyone know where I can get a headlight for my 81 DT175 besides plopping down $50 at Bike Bandit and buying used at bike boneyard?

Thanks,

Hoss

I don't see many new ones, and the ones I do see are for Hondas or the description is so vague that I'm almost guaranteed to return it. Thanks for the responses guys. I don't suppose an auto parts store would have one...

There a few places to go try, speed and sport inc. CMSNL, and myself. But I already checked my inventory and I only got a headlight for a Yamaha IT. My best advice would be to go to Speed and Sport. Those guys know and love Yamahas.

ask for a 4020 6v headlight at any auto supply, you may need a few extra yamaha part # 1M18412460 spring clips to hold it in

anyone know where I can find a part # for it? speed and sport inc. is about as easy to use as Service Honda and it looks like they only cover 1963 - 1977 bikes. Just curious, would an IT headlight not fit a DT? I'm assuming it won't since you didn't offer to sell it to me. Wink

The IT headlight has a different fuxture end, it is square versus the DT which is round. Try www.CMSNL.com. They are in the Netherlands but you should be able to get a part number. The part number for your year of DT starts with 2A. You can also try this guy http://www.blackcatgarage.com. He may have it.

This site was recommended to me by JC Whitney when I called. They had the correct headlight for my bike and it works great. Hope this helps others.
