Looking through the DMV site the other day, getting the honda on the road once it's finished will be difficult.

Have a few questions regarding the registration:

1- since it's a 1974, can it be registered as "antique" instead of classic, so I can avoid the inspection and pay slightly less?
2- do you need current proof of insurance to register a the bike (don't currently have bike insurance been dealing with non-runners for a while)
3- how many hoops must you jump through to get a bonded title?
4- what documents must you present to get the thing first titled, then registered in your name?

Thanks.

1. No....not unless you are in an endless parade.
2. Proof of current insurance on any other vehicle you own will do...then you go get bike insurance.
3. I dunno....I don't jump through hoops for anybody or anything.
4. You saw this?... http://www.txdmv.gov/vehicles/titles/bonded.htm

I don't own any insurance right now... no car and the reason I started this whole mess is to avoid relying on public transport/ other people. Embarassed Would've just bought a cheap new bike but got the first project free, and the whole thing started etc and now is only about $200 away from completion.

Reading further on the DMV's site, there is a paradox- you need proof of insurance to get a title, to register the vehicle, and even to get a license- but I doubt any insurer will give insurance without all three of those. So in order to get any of the three (though I have a license already), I need insurance, but to get insurance, I need those three. Question

To insure a vehicle you only need to give them the year, make and model. I've never had to show ownership first.
