The bike in the CL ad is actually a T250-II, a one year scrambler version. (I have a blue one) The frame on mine has differences at the front of the tank area. More bracing welded in and the ignition key goes through the brace. My X-6 / T20 has the ignition in the headlight and the front of the tank is bolted to the frame where only the bracing exists on the T250. Other than that they were too similar to notice any differences. The bike in the ad looks like a promising candidate for restoration however, if both pipes and shields are complete. If not it will take alot of time & $$$ to find pipes. I have one left side, I think never used muffler with baffle.

What I'm interested in is a TITLED frame that I can put all my good TC250 stuff on and get the darn thing registered and titled in Wisconsin which is being totally ridiculous about my "Bill of sale" bike. So, in your opinion Riz, do you think it will work? That is, my parts will fit on it? The TC250 is virtually the same as the T20 in the areas you mention around the tank.

The short answer is, it's not a direct bolt for bolt change. I kind of thought that the title issue may have been what you were interested in. I believe most states won't allow a frame only with title sale anymore. I am sorry I can't be 100% certain about the swap. I would have to remove the tanks and seats and possibly do some measurements to be completely confident. Its been almost a year since I've had them off. The t250-II definately is a stouter frame where the cradle meets the top rail in front. (sorry I am not sure of all the correct terminology) that engine had and extra port and 4 more horsepower than the older tc250, but the crankcase looks identical. It looks like you would have to drill holes in the bracing for the front tank bolts, and some modification for the rear of the tank too. For the price of the T250-II it would certainly be worth the gamble, cause you wouldn't have too much trouble making up the price by parting it out. Heck I would be interested in the front fender if it cleans up good. I also know you may have to wait a long time to find a titled X-6 that someone would sell for that price.
Here's links to my T250 II and X-6 which will blow up large if you click on a picture for better detail

Thanks Riz. Sounds like a gamble and I'm quite a ways away from Iowa up here. Probably be more money down the black hole
Even if it did work, it would be then a 70 T250II and really wouldn't like that.
