Hey Yammy guru's,looking for someone who could tell me what year is my Yamaha YL1?
1968 or 1969 or ...
and how many it was produced this year.

What is the value of this bike once restored.

Thanks

Eric

Your serial number is within 100 or so of the one on this page. Surf around a bit on this web page, and you'll see that there were differences in bikes sent to Europe and the US....your's could be either.

The two-colour seat could be a later addition, and you could have a US tail-light, for instance. Nonetheless, it looks like you have a YL1, likely '69 or late '68.

Nice bike you have, by the way.

PostPosted: Tue Feb 23, 2010 6:33 pm    Post subject: More YL1 stuff-Cool!! Reply with quote

Just saw this post. I am becoming smart on these YL1's. They were called Twin Jet. 100cc twin cylinder with dual Mukuni carbs. Four speed tranny, maybe all up with neutral at the bottom. Imported from 1966 thru 1968 or 69. 1966 & 67 had black and white seat and painted front fender. 1968 had solid black seat and chrome front fender. Turn signals were an after thought put on by the dealer or not. Have been know to go 70 mph and in racing trim with the GYT kit (chambers and porting) top speed was 91 mph. Very smooth two stroke. The YL1-E was 12 volt electric start which I heard most were here in the US. More close up pics would be great. I may write an article on the YL1 so if you want to email me with more info that would be cool. stevesearles [at] hotmail [dot] com Sorry, they are a cool machine but tiddler small Jap bikes value is basically in the eye of the beholder only. PS: I have a 1968 that I will bring to Mid-Ohio. Mine is blue. I think yours is a 1968 also.
