I bought an old bike that didn't run and have had to do some major work on my 83 cb750 night hawk. Something concerns me about the primary shaft and I wanted an explanation before I put it all back together. On the transmission side of the shaft there are two gears mounted right next to each other and both insert into the same gear on the cluth. The problem is that the inner gear has 24 teeth and the outer one (which is much thinner) has 23 teeth. The two gears don't seem to be able to move independently (at least by hand). When I rotate the crankshaft then the primary shaft tries to lift out when the teeth for the two gears don't line up. Any ideas? Are the gears suppose to rotate seperately so the teeth always stay lined up?

Welcome to VJMOG.com
Goto www.cb750c.com and look in the tech documents section for the free downloadable PDF Factory Service Manual for the DOHC CB750.
