So it's fall........ MICE are running rampant!

I just finished putting my 65 Honda CA95 back together after finding that within a 3 day period these jerk mice had gotten in and shredded my wiring harness, more so there was something about the green wire they must have loved.

Does anyone have any tricks or methods that are great for disuading these little suckers from decimating bikes?

I've thought about a poison moat..... that just doesn't seem pratical though Rolling Eyes ha.

cats.... just dont give them wet food, leave them in the garage or shed, eventually theyll crave meat enough that theyll go after the mice, and if you end up with one like MINE, eventually they will develop a taste for human flesh!
ok, seriously now...
cats LOVE to play, even a city cat will kill mice, and mice know it, the dumb city slicker cat doesnt MEAN to kill its toy.. but well oops... then they nibble taste and eat em... as far as my evil little 4 legger, she takes on my pit bulls and wins, hates being pet, runs away from people, but shes DAMN good at catching mice.. shes also the type that shreds hands arms or faces if you try to hold her.

Ya dont need a better mouse trap.... nature has already invented it, the fact that a cat is on duty actually will keep the critters at bay, much like a pit bull will keep thieves out of the shed.... but ya cant have both in there at the same time!

Jack Russell Terrier - it will make it his (her) life's mission to kill anything that moves, and will NEVER give up (unlike a cat, who will get bored eventually, and will simply ignore a critter it thinks is too big).
The Jack will get rid of all other unauthorized visitors - snakes, bats, snapping turtles, raccoons, marmots, whatever - no matter the size or ferocity, Jacks have no fear, and the varmint will meet its demise.

I have both cats and a Jack - no comparison at all. If the Jack smells or sees something is around, it's hopeless to try and get him to give up, it's not gonna happen.

Have to agree with the cat, statement. Mice do a real nice job on electrical harnesses and air filters.

I have a friend who recommends essence of peppermint and spearmint oil mixed 50/50 into cotton balls in a zip lock bag with holes. He says you may need to redo every month or so depending on exposure. I have also heard that some spices work.

Southern States sells something like Rid O Mice

I have used the sheets you add to the dryer to make the clothes smell better. They worked last year in my old car but they didn't keep the bat out Surprised

I have absolutely nothing in my house or yard.
Neighbors ask me what I treat the lawn with to get rid of the moles - I just smile, I don't do anything about moles, Jack gets them all.
Any critter entering into my area is facing certain death.
He's a big Jack, a 20-pounder, so even German Shepherds are fair game.

Yet he's overwhelmingly affectionate and friendly - like most Jacks, he loves everybody, especially kids and girls.
He might lick your face off, but that's the only threat he poses to people.......

I was going to mention a Chihuahua... Ours will find something that doesn't belong and hunt it til it gone..... You should see BOO, our chihuahua, catch flies in the air. She can jump about 2 feet verticle to catch flies out of the air... Funniest thing to watch... Almost worth leaving the door open....

Yeah, I love that small dog attitude - they weigh 13 or 15 pounds, but act like they're 150 pounds.....

I read somewhere that mothballs work good. I've used them now for 2 years over the winter with success. They are pretty smelly! Good luck! Jack

go to your dollar store and buy some of those sticky traps..they work..they will even glue a rat.although the rat will drag away the trap stuck to its back

i say too bad..mr rat

when they chew your wiring, they are going after the salt you leave behind when youb are working at your bike

if you need help, send me a ticket
