Hi. . .I have a 74 250 I'm contemplating selling up at Haydays and just curious on what kinda value it would have . .the good, bad, and ugly. .

good- fairly complete bike..missing only the left side cover, 1 footpeg rubber, headlight, ignition key, and a title- ..ok..so that isn't one of the goods..but . .I bought this from an old bike shop out in Omaha that went out of business years ago and never got the title from them so now stuck with that situation..though there are ways to aquire titles- over all still looks decent... all the chrome is in exellent condition, paint is fair .. motor cases have some corrosion and discoloring here and there ..

bad- tires are worn..I wouldn't wanna ride very far or very fast on this rubber, front mastercylinder quit working after disassembly..possibly plugged it up??. ., seat has about a 2 in. rip, gauges are pretty much invisible due to fogging of the lenses.

ugly..haven't been able to get it to run..I've jumped the igniton at the plug and have power and lights, but can't get spark..so don't know if something else is wrong electrically or what?. .

..so at present time it doesn't run and has the issues I mentioned .. . .anybody have an idea on value as a completed bike in this condition or being sold as a parts bike . .ballpark high or low???. . . thanks. .

Johnny

$300 ~ $500 tops.

A non-runner, unknown ignition problems, no key, no TITLE!!?? Yeah, even though it's in very nice shape, cosmetically, the no title is a real value killer.

With the very nice cosmetic shape, parting it out might be your best return-on-investment. Good looking tank, engine parts, OEM exhaust, fenders, bits 'n bobs... probably return a fair bit on ebay.

Good luck with it, whichever way you go.

Kirk

I bought this from an original owner, Keys, title and running for $370.... It's completely apart right now. My 11 year old is restoring it...

He started the restoration about 2 weeks ago. I just got the frame back from coater. Trent refurbished the gauges and the engine.....

I've seen 2 very nice restored ones go for $1800 and $2200. However the norm has been $400 - $700....

I'm guessing he will have about $1000 in parts and outside labor including the cost of the bike when he is done.... At Least I hope so.... He is dipping into my projects funds. lol

Your gauges look new! were they non-yellow when you got them?
If not, that is, if the plastic was yellowed, how did you get it so clear?
I rubbed mine with plastic polish and got them visible; Not as clean as yours, though.
Down the road I may replace the plastic...

They were yellow and cracked. I wish I had a before picture... My son disassembled them and cut new lenses from .040 lexan. Then he cleaned and reassmbled the gauges. The black surround was almost white and chalky. He cleaned it and prepped it for a nice clear coat of paint to get the black back. BTW, he's 11 now and I'm jealous of his skills.....

Just an update on the gt . . .I had a key made before taking it up to Haydays and started messing around . . after a little bit of tinkering with the carbs and cleaning stuff up..the old girl started up!!. . .took a little bit to clean it out and get it to stay running but now this thing starts on the first kick, runs very nice- a little low end bog when it's cold yet- and I'm thinking about keeping it! .. . ..so . .does anyone have a gold left sidecover?, or a footpeg rubber, or a headlite, for one of these bikes?? .. .. or info on where to call for new/repro or used parts? . . .thanks..

Johnny

..oh. . and the master cylinder started working again also. .. front brakes are nice to have! bounce
