Just bought a c100 honda 50 cub without a title on a bill of sale. I am not sure of the year of the bike. Also, can one get a bike titled in ohio with just a bill of sale? I want to be able to put it on the street. I have been told that you can get it titled but only for off road. Anyone know how I can get this done?

You should be able to track the serial number and the date and year of the bike somewhere on the frame.
Normally it's on the steering column but Im not sure for these older bike.
It looks just like this one: http://www.bikepics.com/honda/ca102/69/pics.asp

| With the early hondas there are two ways to check the year. If it is a 1964 or earlier then the year of manufacture will be stamped on the serial number on the cases. I.e. CA95E-1964...... After 1964 the year of manufacture would be stamped on the electrical harness, usually on the harness by the neck on the frame. I hope this helps. From the 70's on up then you look for the VIN number, and that will give you the information you need.

Ok, so I checked out this web site that was supposed to show years that these bike were produced and you could find the year via the serial #. It showed the the N sequence was a 1965. I also check the wiring harness and it shows 1964. I don't believe that these bikes were like the twins or the fours where the bike was built in oct of 73 but the bike is a 74. Anyone got any ideas on what I got ?

Like MR.CHocko said, look at the harness (I see you did that) . This bike was manufactured in '64. The early Hondas were titled when they were sold so this bike could have been manuf. in '64 and sold and originaly titled as a '65 or newer. Could have set in a crate or on the dealers floor for a while. I've used a title company several times www.its-titles.com This was a very easy process for me here in SC. You will need to contact the DMV to make sure theres not already a title fir this bike in OH . If you know that theres not one (may have bought from out of state ) then you can go ahead and get the paperwork. Price is around $85.00 plus whatever the DMV charges to transfer. Mine have been very fast taking about 7-8 days. Hope this helps. Good luck.

thanks tdhorne,
I will contact the bmv here and see what it will take to title it. If they wont accept a bill of sale, I will use that title co link you sent. Bike was not titled by previous owner since he got it on a bill of sale also. Prior to him was a person in PA. So, I pretty sure that it has never been titled in OH. So, I guess I can call it either a 64 or a 65. Hard to say which one it really is, but I would assume it to be 64 now.
