Ive been trying to clean up the wheels on my 500 four but it seems to me that the rust has got the better of them. Ive been looking for another set of wheels but really have no idea what to look for. i would like a set of alloys instead of the spoke rims i have now. any ideas? _________________ 1972 Cb500/4- 31,000 miles |

I'm thinking that CB450 wheels (the DOHC 450) ought to bolt right up, though I could be wrong. It's the same rear wheel for sure........
If you're willing to do a bit of work you could try something like I did on my mutant 450 -

Send me a few pics if you are able. Does anyone know if these wheels will fit? _________________ 1972 Cb500/4- 31,000 miles |

| Those are comstar wheels. The early ones were silver and the later ones were black. I believe the wheels from a CB400T should also fit the CB500. Check the size on the rims, there should be a number. |

Indeed, they are Comstars off a '78 CB400T2.
Click the "Project Log" link above the photo for details......... _________________ Bill Lane - CB200-CM200-CB450-C70M-CL350

I like that 450. Those wheels look natural on it this many years later. _________________ |

No, I don't think so.
Though I never actually tried it, I had a pair of CB750C (DOHC) Comstars in hand a while ago, and they seemed quite a bit larger (wider, in particular) than the ones I used on my 450........
And I should point out that putting the Comstars on my 450 was NOT a bolt-up, it took some finaglin'. Nothing real major, and well worth it, but not a bolt-up.
The front end was easy in my case, I used the entire CB400T2 front end, put in a 360 triple tree/stem - that was a true bolt-up, except for instrument mounting and old-school friction steering damper.
The rear wheel took some work, getting it centered properly, and dealing with the different axle sizes. _________________ Bill Lane - CB200-CM200-CB450-C70M-CL350

| You can probably do a front end from a CX500, I believe the forks are the same diameter which should fit the CB500 triple trees, but the rear wheel would be a problem with it being shaft drive. However, if he has patients he just might be able to find a set of Lesters for his bike. |

mag wheels off a 78 or 77 CB750. not sure of the size, havent looked yet. All they really need is Soda Blasted and/or powder coated.
