Your not alone. I am very happy to say that I also have the 68 European CB450. Mine is a 68 1/2 witch has the hotter cams and the 5 speed. Its also has 2 steering dampers one on top that you turn and a lower rod type and yes it is a factory set up. All the vin info is in German. It now has 4,643.6 original miles. Sorry no picture rite now I have the bike apart to repaint and polish.

zjeppe, Euro450K1, thanks for the information. I've got the bike home, but it's still on the trailer. I started sifting through the bits, trying to figure out what I'll need to put it back together. After some research, I've deciced that it is indeed a Euro model. I've located a couple websites with pictures and videos of machines that look just like mine. Here's one of them: http://www.motorrad-fuchs.com/de/single,267,1,CB_450_K1.html#

I would be interested in any info, pictures, or literature that you guys might know of.......and Euro, please post some pictures..............and by the way, welcome to VJMOG.

.............Paul

not new but a long time sense I have made any post. I also had the same issue with the vin numbers not showing up on the data bases. I received some help from Steve from http://www.hondatwins.net/ after I was trying to look up some information through the vin# and it didn't bring up anything Steve had also looked into the Japanese reference books and it didn't show up there either. He had me contact this guy Gramme in New Zealand who was talking with Bob Hanson. They where thinking that what I have might be a special purpose bike or SP or a special order. The model that I have has the shorter fenders that are the same as the CL450's and the bike came with factory cable retainers for the wheel stud nuts that I have yet to see on any other 450's and with 18" rim's front and rear. I guessing that someone was in the military stationed in Germany at the time had ordered it the way and had it shipped back to the USA. The military paid for shipping at the time other it would have been cheaper to just buy another one when they got back to the USA. Anyhow a friend of mine found it buried at a shop in Oregon and I bought it.

Thanks for the info. I'm beginning to think that mine may have got to the US in a similar manner. It appears to be very similar to bikes that I've found in Germany except for the "American" style turnsignals. Anyhow, it looks like it will be a slow resto, so I'll have plenty of time to figure it out Smile

All CB450 with drum brakes were 18" front wheels......
All CL 450 and all disc brake CB450 were 19" front wheel.

What languish is the vin plate in? That should tell you something. My bike also had the US style turn signals. Changing to the US style That might have been the trend at the time. A friend of mine that has a motorcycle wrecking business found the European signals for me. The are very hard to come by and I am still trying to locate the plastic lenes for them. Anyone know where I can find them?

I happy to say that I have the lenes already. I was hopping to find a replacement set because mine are have some wear and just incase one is broken be on repair. I was thinking I could have a set made be using one of the old lenes to create a mold. Just a thought and I know that it wouldn't be cheap but its great to have the original lenes that came with the bike.

There is maybe two places that may have the european stuff. One is CMSNL.com, well they are based in the Netherlands, and the other is David Silver Spares. Personally, I would go look on CMSNL as those bikes were quite popular in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Well, my project is home, but the weather gods did not cooperate. As soon as things thaw out a little, I'll get it inside and start the long journey. Very Happy

As I continue to sift through the many bits and pieces, I've been making a list of the parts that I need to locate. The list is beginning to get a little lengthy. Laughing Does anyone know how the rubber knee pads are held onto the tank? The chrome side panels came off easily, but I'm not sure how the knee pads are secured to the side panels. Any thoughts?
