want a 75 or 76 GL1000 for my own personal use but, it has to wait until I finish my next CBX build.

Jeez, Ray - I just sold a '75 wing with a clean title for $250...........

$250.00 Shocked what kind of condition was it in?

Ray -

It was complete, even had a Vetter fairing.
Bike hadn't run in a couple of years, but it was all there and relatively clean (for a Midwest bike).
I just didn't feel like working on it - I had wanted to make it into a sidecar rig, but.........I'm SO lazy.

I am kind of glad I missed out on it Bill, my wife would cut off my huevos if I came home with another bike that needs a complete refresh before I sell the Scrambler. Shocked

FISH!!! Where have you been? I thought maybe that you gave up on your wing and moved on to other projects. So you still have it and it's still not done?!! Laughing The stators on the early wings (75-79) usually hold up pretty good except for the main connectors, it's the 1100 that had weak stators. If you need one, let me know, I can help you out. I still owe you lunch Wink

............Paul

Thanks Paul !! Nope didn`t give up on old red Very Happy Been busy at work & putting on a ton of miles on my 07 FJR, so the wing was put on hold Crying or Very sad . Every fall i get a hankerin to start working on her again. So i am, & will hopefully get her at least starting & running by the winter. I will use a gas can on the side of the bike , so not to put gas in my redone gas tank & let it sit too long. (again) Laughing Thanks for the offer & will see right after i get it fired up.

OH by the way i get this when grounding each wire at a time

"OL" is exactly what you want to see doing the ground test. It tells you that there are no shorts inside the case or stator.

Great to hear that , now i will continue on the getting on the road part of the bike. If push comes to shove , i`ll have to pull the engine out after i get it running (at least i will know it runs)

Ya, typically in testing anything, we learn that OL means the dreaded "overload"!! Then our mind says "Oh Crap". But when testing OHMs for resistance the meter reads "Open Loop". When testing for ground in this case, open loop is good because it means the wires inside your stator are intact and not shorting to ground anywhere. While this does not mean you have a good stator (only a running load test will tell you that) It does indicate the stator may be good.

The test you did across the stator wires is a better indication that the stator is good, but again, testing the actual output of the stator while running is the final yea or nay.

Nice, now that's gonna be stuck in my head when I use mine!

So that means when it reads negative numbers it's using the dark side??

Fluke... I am your father....
